I am curious how you could run Stata on your phone. I have an old laptop on which I installed Stata, and it always overheats and shuts down - that's the kind of thing I am trying to avoid, and the level of analysis I can muster for why my laptop works or doesn't work (i.e., "the magical box got too hot, eek!"). In this video, we are looking at how to install R-base and RStudio on a Chromebook. I'm not a gadget nerd and am not inherently interested in what is inside the computer, as long as it runs well. I am sure they are very helpful, and I truly appreciate everybody taking the time to write them (and hope they are useful for someone else). I am sorry to say I don't understand most of the tech terms in most of the replies. 1 Best answer Accepted Solutions xmasbaby0. Thanks! This sounds good to me and is exactly the price range I was looking for. Will TurboTax work on Chromebook for 2023 Topics: TurboTax Deluxe Online posted Septem8:46 AM. If you are looking at buying a Steam game specifically to use on a Chromebook then it would be wise to post here (or on another Chromebook reddit) and ask other users if the game works for them. I have even turned on and off Developer Mode, but still, nothing works. Be aware that games are not in any way guaranteed to work on ChromeOS, but many of them do. I have tried restarting my Quest, the SideQuest app, the terminal, and my Chromebook, but nothing is working. It says it is disconnected, but my Chromebook still asks me to connect to Linux. I highly recommend it given how cheap it is. The next, I try connecting my Quest into it and nothing happens in SideQuest. Intel core i3-8130U 8th Gen 2.20 GHz, Windows 10 (64-bit), 8 GB of RAM. I run Stata IC 15.1 & R 3.5.0 (using RStudio) on an HP laptop that I bought in BestBuy. Your only gain is the clocks speed bump, no gain in instructions per second or clock really. So you can compare say a 6th gen i7 to an 8th gen i7 pretty easily in terms of single core performance. Intel hasn't seen major architectural gains from 6th gen to 9th gen, they all just run a little faster. One easy place to do this is Rstudio. However, you can use a browser to connect to an RStudio Server. 9th gen mobile chips aren't out yet really. I dont think you can use RStudio 'desktop' on a chromebook. In the 8th gen they went to H chips like an i7-8750H which is 6 cores/8 threads. A i7 U series (ex: 6500U) is 2 cores/4 threads. So say a 6th or 7th gen i7 mobile chip (HQ series) is 4 cores/8 threads. Just be aware that starting in the 8th gen, Intel added two cores to their CPU lineup and then did another core adjustment in the 9th gen. Given your Stata stuff a test drive on it over a weekend and if you're happy with it, either buy that laptop or search for one with similar specs. Also as a suggestion, see about loaner laptops from your school's classroom media department, the library, central it, or whatever arm of the institution loans out instructional tech.
